    Still working on software

I love the camera and the resolution and autofocus are great. I have been working with libcamera, the new software in Raspbian. My older cameras worked fine with a Raspi webcam server so any browser could view the video and taking snapshots was easy with "curl". That webserver software doesn't use libcamera so I'm starting from scratch. Streaming with TCP works but stops streaming when VLC the client viewer stops. I can't get UDP streaming working.

Great Price on Pi Camera v3

Loved the price on the camera module. Big improvement on resolution over v2. On a RPi Zero 2W I get about 40 full res images per minute. An RPi 4B can run at 114 images per minute. Webcam video is great too.

Amazing little affordable camera - great upgrade

I had the RPi camera v2 for years and saw version 3 came out. Replacing old one by new one was as easy as unplugging the old one and plugging the new one. The image quality of the new version is amazing. Great colors, great clarity and great resolution. It's even better than my other USB cameras.

    Back for More RaspCAM/TFT

Just gettin’ started, buUut… this is a bargain, if you’re up to doing a bit of (re)coding to make use of it:

It’s engineered by ArduCAM, with Adafruit working on it a while back, when B+ was the thing…

You’ll wanna set up SSH, since you’ll be redirecting HDMI to the TFT screen.

The driver is either 28r (2.8 resistive) or 28c (2.8 capacitive), and you can enable one of the switches for on/off using GPIO #23, with the other three being wired to otherwise unused GPIOs.

The LCD + touchscreen uses the SPI pins (SCK, MOSI, MISO, CE0, CE1), and GPIO #25 and #24.

I’d bet the lens, which is the same one that screws on Raspberry Pi’s HQ camera, costs more than $7.

You’ll likely be working in Python.

I’ve already found just enough about this thing to know I will be able to use it with Zero 2 W, soOo… buying more of both ~;-)

    Lcd worked well.
I was able to get the lcd to work with adafruit drivers.

Unfortunately, no drivers were presented in the package, or documentation for what type of LCD/touchscreen was used.
    Still unable to use touchscreen/buttons.

This would ideally be pretty cool, but I can't find a supported image or an image with a working gui anywhere. Pretty frustrating. Also it's just the board, no spacers, so I have a pretty sad rig going with the corners taped down to my pi 3b+ case. Either way I have not yet been able to find a way to use this as a touch screen camera.

    So far so good

Parts arrived on time, plugged it in to Raspberry Pi 2, needed to enable one thing in firmware to get working with latest Raspberry Pi images, took some time to find the right docs for that. Software is easy as Pi, simple commands make features easy to use, very easy to script up desired functions. Found it easy to hack a cover for the camera board by using an old plastic SD card case.

Works well for monitoring prints, 3b+/Octoprint

Installed in a 3b+/Octoprint build and it works fine. The camera is well suited for monitoring prints but probably not the best option for time lapse captures. The camera fits a printed case designed for a standard Pi camera module without any modifications required. There's an Octoprint camera adjustment plugin available that works well to adjust the brightness, contrast etc. Mine was a bit dark prior to installing the plugin but looks good now. Overall, I'm quite happy with this camera module and would buy it again.

Since Raspberry Pi released the high quality camera, I have been searching for a case-mount for it. So far this is the best solution I can find. The case is sturdy with the camera set mount on it. The tripod is all metals, very well made. You may not see it, the tripod set actually comes with a metal bolt that fastens the bottom of the tripod to the case through the hole as seen in the pictures.

    Highly recommended.

Can't install drivers on latest Pi kernel version!

I can't comment on the camera's quality or operation yet -- Arducam does not provide drivers for the latest Buster OS. The fine print instructions that came with the camera has this to say:
"NOTE: The kernel driver installation only supported by the latest version 5.10. . . . . Please check the kernel version, we only provide the driver for the latest official version image when this Pivariety camera released. You can follow Arducam Doc page to get the drivers for other kernel versions."
Apparently, the latest drivers I could find on Arducam's website was for 5.10.92-v8+. But my Pi is at 5.10.103-v7l+. When you try to run the installation, it will fail, saying it cannot find "./bin/5.10.103-v7l+/" directory and required files.
I also tried following the instructions found on the above-mentioned "Doc" page at the Arducam site. Aside from the painful Chinese broken English and trying to intrepret what it's saying, when I tried building my own driver, it began asking a ton of very technical questions regarding kernel settings, and I really had no idea what to do at that point. I'm a tech person, but it was WAY over my head, and I suspect over the heads of most purchasers of this camera. Arducam (or Vilros) needs to update the drivers for the very latest versions of Pi, and they should not require the user to risk mangling their systems attempting to build a new kernel.

    Raspberry pi zero 2 w

Everything if first quality. The pi itself is a great little computer but I think it needs more ram. I understand the limitations of the form factor, I hope they find a way to go with additional ram. It would make a decent desktop replacement, put it in a small case and it would practically disappear.
