Elegant functionality.

"The first bite is with your eyes.". This is true for a a Raspberry Pi as well. What was once a simple PCB has now become an elegant and sophisticated work of art full of functionality.

Easy to use

This is my first pi. I wanted to build my own arcade machine and setting up retropie (once I figured out what I was doing) was relatively straightforward. Especially with ssh and all the guides out there.

Good product

What I like the most about the stacking case is that the computers don't overheat.

Everything is easy as Pi

Overall, I had a great experience building my Raspberry Pi 5. It was simple to put together and launch. The web tutorials were very good, and I was very confident in building my Pi. My only problem is the microHDMI video output. I think a mini would have been better. It is easier to find mini-to-mini or mini-to-regular HDMI cables. I know it came with two micro-to-HDMI cables, but maybe one should have been micro-to-mini, or for a few dollars more, add an adaptor that you know will work on Pi video output.

Works

The board works well for the most part. I am using this board as a day to day computer, so not in a way most people would use it for, so I my experience does not likely relate. You are not going to run zoom through it and the internet browsers like firefox are a bit slow, but then that is not what you are getting the board for. For non-browser day to day tasks, such as vim, gdb, inkscape, mplayer, or other linux tools it seems to work well, though I have had some odd crashes on the PI OS on occasion. I have yet to try this on an other linux distro, but I plan to at some point.

The cost is not bad, when you consider you are getting 8 Gigs of LDPR 4 ram. However, for people getting these boards for projects, the cost is a bit high.

The major con I found is that the micro HDMI cables are hard to find and that most usb-c power supplies do no provide the recommended 5 amps. The PI still runs, but it also gives you a warning. So, you will want to pick up the official power supply for best operation. If you plan on transporting this back and forth, then I would recommend picking up multiple power supplies.
