Fantastic!

I know some people buying this kit are not Linux-savvy, so I would encourage those folks to watch some Youtube videos ahead of time to know what the software setup *might* look like. I loved this kit. It had absolutely everything I needed to get started with my first Raspberry pi. I appreciate the software that came with the kit, but I ended up having to override it with Batocera (which works wonderfully). Overall I would recommend this kit to anyone starting out. If this is not your first pi or pi arcade, then you would be better served buying components separately. I personally like the SNES design - but you could opt instead for better cooling. The controllers work fine, but you may be better off getting xbox controllers for maximum compatibility.

The system itself is working great and I feel good about the purchase. However, the instructions for install included specific directions to boot Lakka, which currently isn't compatible with the pi. This led to many hours troubleshooting something rather simple, but since I am new to computer building, posed a major roadblock and definitely negated the point of opting for this "ready to go" rig. Possible solution: print new instructions or email a notification to purchasers about the temporary incompatibility of Lakka, point folks to another OS that you can download with wifi during Raspian install.

the system and the hardware was there but i found the manuals sent to be very lacking

My wife got me this for Christmas. The controllers feel great and work great. My only reason for giving 4 stars is that with cables coming out the front of the case I can never close the door. The case works great but it just doesn't look nice with the cables coming out of the front.
