Complete Kit Includes:

Flagship Raspberry Pi SBC performance

The Raspberry Pi 5 introduces a powerful 2.4GHz quad-core, 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, equipped with 512KB L2 caches and a 2MB shared L3 cache. This remarkable improvement translates to a 3 times increase in CPU performance compared to its predecessor. The Cortex-A76, built on the new 7nm technology, is a more advanced and power-efficient CPU core compared to the 10nm Cortex-A72, offering superior single-threaded and multi-threaded performance.

Raspberry Pi 5 Specs:

Processor:  Broadcom BCM2712 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, with cryptography extensions, 512KB per-core L2 caches, and a 2MB shared L3 cache

Features:

  • 2.4GHz quad-core, 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU
  • VideoCore VII GPU supporting  Vulkan 1.2 and OpenGL ES
  • LPDDR4X-4267 SDRAM (4GB and 8GB options)
  • PCIe 2.0 x1 interface for fast peripherals ( Requires adapter)
  • Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz
  • Bluetooth 5.0 / Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Micro SD card slot, supports high-speed SDR104
  • 4X USB Ports (2 × 3.0 , supporting 5Gbps + 2 X 2.0)
  • Gigabit Ethernet, with PoE+ capabilities (requires Pi 5 PoE+ HAT)
  • 2 × 4 lane MIPI camera /display transceivers
  • 5V/5A USB-C power input (PD enabled for higher USB power)
  • Raspberry Pi standard 40-pin header
  • Real-Time Clock (RTC), powered from an external battery (Sold Separately)
  • On-board power button

This marks a significant milestone as it's the first full-size Raspberry Pi computer that utilizes silicon developed in-house by Raspberry Pi. The RP1 "southbridge" plays a pivotal role in providing most of the I/O capabilities for the Raspberry Pi 5, bringing about a substantial improvement in peripheral performance and functionality.

The overall USB bandwidth has been more than doubled, resulting in faster data transfer speeds for external UAS drives and other high-speed peripherals. In addition, the two-lane 1Gbps MIPI camera and display interfaces found on earlier models have been replaced by a pair of four-lane 1.5Gbps MIPI transceivers, tripling the total available bandwidth. This versatile setup supports any combination of up to two cameras or displays.

Peak SD card performance has also seen a doubling in speed, thanks to the support for the high-speed SDR104 mode. Furthermore, for the first time, this platform introduces a single-lane PCI Express 2.0 interface, providing the means to connect high-bandwidth peripherals seamlessly

Production lifetime: Raspberry Pi 5 will remain in production until at least January 2035. So if you're looking where to buy Raspberry pi 5 8GB we got you covered! Are you looking for the cheapest place where to buy Raspberry Pi 5 kits and bundles we can handle that too!

Raspberry pi 5 Specs

Lets Break things down

The Broadcom BCM2712 Chip

raspberry pi 5 - Broadcom BCM2712
At the heart of the new Raspberry Pi 5 is the all-new 16-nanometer Broadcom BCM2712.  Powered by a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 processor, clocking at a whopping 2.4GHz, with 512KB per core L2 caches, and a 2MB shared total L3 cache!

The Cortex-A76 is three generations ahead of the old Cortex-A72 and does more tricks in a single tick of the clock while sipping less power. It's a CPU ninja.

it's got a partner in crime, the Broadcom VideoCore VII. This graphical genius is like the Picasso of GPUs, born in the Raspberry Pi hometown of Cambridge. And it comes with fully open-source Mesa drivers Igalia. It can even juggle two 4Kp60 HDMI displays simultaneously, making your screen time feel like a Hollywood premiere.

The updated VideoCore hardware (HVS) is capable of driving two simultaneous 4Kp60 HDMI displays,

To keep this whole show running smoothly, there's a 32-bit LPDDR4X SDRAM subsystem, running at a whopping 4267MT/s. That's like giving your Raspberry Pi a sugar rush compared to the old 2000MT/s.

RP1 - Raspberry Pi custom silicon I/O controller

Raspberry pi 5 - RP1
RP1 is the I/O controller for Raspberry Pi 5. Designed in-house by the Raspberry Pi team in Cambridge costing $15m to develop!
It provides two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 interfaces; a Gigabit Ethernet controller; two four-lane MIPI transceivers for camera and display; analog video output; 3.3V general-purpose I/O (GPIO); and the usual collection of GPIO-multiplexed low-speed interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, and PWM). A four-lane PCI Express 2.0 interface provides a 16Gb/s link back to BCM2712.

Finally, a Pi that can actually run a DE

You got it right, this sucker can run a desktop. I personally despise the raspberrypi OS default desktop, so I still stuck with the raspberrypi os, but installed XFCE4, instead. It runs beautifully, as long as you don't overdo it. I've had multiple tabs open w/Firefox and chromium, as well as run Libre office, VLC, etc. For someone who only needs basic web browsing, email, etc, this thing works just fine. FYI, I do not run mine from an SD card, I actually run mine from ssd/hat, and that's what I'd recommend.

So far so good

I am using it as a ipsec testing platform. I am finding the Raspberry PI OS is Debian and close to Ubuntu in setup, so it has thus far has been straight forward in setup. Am waiting for a more expanded case gets delivered here so I can try a more extensive memory on the 5 for supposed better performance. Stay tuned.

Love these. I have bought several and they work great fro all my applications. I would have given 5 stars if only the case wasn't metal as that seems to interfere with wifi on some installations. Nonetheless, the boards themselves and the kit is great.
