Raspberry Pi Keyboard Hub

Features of the keyboard

The official Raspberry Pi keyboard and hub provides three lock keys. These are Num Lock, Scroll Lock and Caps Lock. There are three LEDs in the top right corner to indicate which locks are enabled.

Caps Lock – Enables capital letters to be typed. Use the Shift key to produce lower case letters in this mode. This mode is enabled and disabled by pressing the Caps Lock key.
Num Lock – This enables the red number keys on the letter keys. This is useful for entering numbers like a calculator. This mode is enabled and disabled by pressing the Num Lock key.
Scroll Lock – This enables the cursor keys for browsing. This is a way of browsing web pages and spreadsheets without the mouse. This mode is enabled and disabled by pressing the ScrLk key while holding the Fn key.

Raspberry Pi Keyboard Hub

Connection diagram

This is the recommended configuration of the Raspberry Pi and keyboard and mouse. The hub on the keyboard ensures easy access to USB drives, and the mouse cable can be short and tidy. The mouse cable is still long enough to use it in your left hand as well.
Note: It is important that the power supply is connected to the Raspberry Pi, and the keyboard is powered by the Raspberry Pi. If the power adaptor is connected to the keyboard with the Raspberry Pi powered from the keyboard, then the keyboard will not operate correctly.

Can't get used to it

I wanted to like it but the keys are just very stiff and feel unnatural. I need to hit them very hard to type anything without missing a key. On the plus side I really do love the colors and the USB hub.

Raspberrypi official keyboard

Good solid keyboard for the money. Vikros shipping was quick and the item was well packed. Package arrived well before the scheduled time. I will order from Vilros again without hesitation.

"Great Brittain keyaboard" (lacks important buttons like | ("pipe")

I ordered this in October 2020 (Order # 34678) because I needed a keyboard that works with Pi zero's, and this does, but be aware that Great Britain keyboards lack some buttons like the pipe key which is incredibly important in Linux. Because of this I immediately threw it in the junk drawer. I couldn't find my other keyboard, so I grabbed this one, and was instantly reminded why it is so frustrating. I've now spent more time trying to get the keyboard working than I have actually installing and configuring the device I needed to use the keyboard on, all because I am 100% stuck behind the inability to pipe a curl command to bash with ONE KEY ("|"). Alt +124 doesn't work, and there is no UI to copy/paste the key, nor does the device have network access to ssh into the device.
So be aware that if you choose this keyboard, you are in for a ton of headaches with basic Linux commands.
