The video demonstrates step-by-step assembly, LED fan connection, and optimal setup for cooling performance.

Package contents

Your Vilros Clear Transparent ABS Case package includes:

  • Clear ABS case panels (top and bottom)
  • LED fan (typically 30mm or 40mm depending on design)
  • Fan mounting screws
  • Standoffs and screws for Pi 5 mounting
  • Heatsinks (optional, depending on kit variant)

Verify all components are present before beginning assembly.

Assembly steps

  1. Prepare the bottom panel: Place the clear ABS bottom panel on a flat surface.
  2. Install heatsinks (optional): If included, apply heatsinks to the Raspberry Pi 5's main chips before installing in the case.
  3. Mount the Pi 5: Place the Raspberry Pi 5 onto the standoffs or mounting posts in the case bottom. Secure with screws from the top, ensuring the board sits level.
  4. Install the LED fan: Mount the LED fan to the designated location (typically the top panel or integrated fan mount). Ensure the fan orientation directs airflow correctly (usually intake from outside, exhaust over the Pi).
  5. Connect the fan: Connect the LED fan's power cable to the Raspberry Pi 5's fan header (4-pin connector near the GPIO). The Pi 5 will automatically control fan speed based on temperature.
  6. Close the case: Align the top panel with the bottom, ensuring all clips or screws engage. The transparent design lets you see the Pi 5 and LED fan illumination.

LED fan features

The integrated LED fan provides both cooling and visual appeal:

Cooling performance: The fan actively cools the Raspberry Pi 5, preventing thermal throttling during intensive workloads. Pi 5's PWM control automatically adjusts fan speed based on CPU temperature.

LED illumination: The fan includes integrated LEDs (color depends on model - may be single-color or RGB). LEDs are typically powered by the same fan connection and illuminate when the fan runs.

Noise: Small fans can produce audible noise at high speeds. PWM control keeps the fan quiet during idle/light use and ramps up only under load.

Fan configuration (optional): Customize fan behavior in /boot/firmware/config.txt by adjusting temperature thresholds. See our Pi 5 clear case with PWM fan guide for configuration details.
