Kit contents

Your Vilros Complete Starter Kit includes:

  • Raspberry Pi board
  • Power supply (USB-C or micro-USB depending on Pi model)
  • MicroSD card with pre-loaded Raspberry Pi OS
  • HDMI cable
  • Protective case
  • USB keyboard and mouse
  • Ethernet cable (optional)
  • Heat sinks and/or cooling fan (depending on kit configuration)
  • GPIO reference card and quick start guide

Verify all components are included before starting assembly.

Assembly & connections

  1. Apply heat sinks: If included, remove the adhesive backing and apply heat sinks to the chips on the Raspberry Pi (CPU, RAM, etc.). Press firmly to ensure good contact.
  2. Install in case: Place the Pi in the protective case, aligning all ports with the case openings. Attach the top cover and secure with screws or clips.
  3. Insert microSD card: Insert the pre-loaded microSD card into the slot on the underside of the Pi.
  4. Connect peripherals: Connect the HDMI cable to your monitor. Plug in the USB keyboard and mouse. Optionally, connect the Ethernet cable for wired internet.
  5. Connect power: Connect the power supply to an outlet, then to the Pi's power port. The system will boot automatically.

First-time configuration

On first boot, the Raspberry Pi OS setup wizard will guide you through:

  1. Regional settings: Select your country, language, timezone, and keyboard layout.
  2. User password: Set a secure password for the default pi user.
  3. WiFi setup: If not using Ethernet, connect to your WiFi network.
  4. Software updates: Allow the system to check for and install updates (recommended). This process may take 5-10 minutes depending on connection speed.
  5. Reboot: The system will reboot after updates complete.

After setup, explore the desktop environment, try pre-installed applications, or visit the Recommended Software menu to install additional programs.
