Unboxing & contents
Your Vilros Arcade Gamebox includes:
- Tabletop arcade cabinet
- Pre-configured Raspberry Pi (installed)
- Arcade controls (joystick and buttons)
- Power supply
- Pre-loaded microSD card with retro games
Carefully remove all items from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage before proceeding.
Setup & first power-on
- Place the arcade cabinet on a stable, flat surface.
- Ensure the Raspberry Pi is securely mounted inside the cabinet.
- Verify all control connections (joystick and buttons) are plugged into the Pi's GPIO or USB ports as needed.
- Connect the power supply to the Raspberry Pi.
- Power on the system. The screen should display the boot sequence, followed by the game menu (typically EmulationStation or RetroPie).
First boot may take a minute or two as the system initializes. Wait for the main game selection menu to appear.
Controls & gameplay
Navigating menus: Use the joystick to navigate up/down in the game menu. Press the designated button (usually A or Button 1) to select a game.
Gameplay: Controls map to classic arcade layouts. The joystick controls movement; buttons are configured for jump, fire, and other actions depending on the game.
Exiting games: Most systems use a combination like Select + Start to exit back to the menu. Check your system's hotkey configuration if needed.
Adding games: To add more ROMs, access the microSD card's ROM directories via network transfer (Samba/SFTP) or by removing the card and connecting it to a computer. Refer to RetroPie documentation for detailed ROM management.
