The video demonstrates unboxing, assembly, and first-time configuration of your Raspberry Pi starter kit.

Kit contents

Your Vilros Basic Starter Kit typically includes:

  • Raspberry Pi board (version depends on kit variant)
  • Power supply with USB-C or micro-USB connector
  • MicroSD card (may be pre-loaded with Raspberry Pi OS)
  • HDMI cable (micro-HDMI to HDMI or HDMI to HDMI depending on Pi model)
  • Case (optional, depending on kit configuration)
  • Quick start guide

Verify all components are present before beginning assembly.

Assembly steps

  1. Install the Pi in the case (if included): Open the case, place the Raspberry Pi inside, ensuring all ports are accessible through the case openings. Close and secure the case.
  2. Insert the microSD card: Insert the microSD card into the slot on the underside of the Raspberry Pi. Push until it clicks into place.
  3. Connect peripherals: Connect your monitor via HDMI cable. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the USB ports.
  4. Connect power last: Plug the power supply into an outlet, then connect it to the Raspberry Pi's power port. The Pi will boot automatically when power is applied.

Do not disconnect power while the Pi is running to avoid corrupting the SD card.

First boot

On first boot, Raspberry Pi OS (if pre-loaded) will display a setup wizard:

  1. Select your country, language, and timezone.
  2. Set a password for the default user (username is typically pi).
  3. Connect to WiFi if available.
  4. Update the system (recommended - this may take several minutes).

Once setup is complete, you'll see the Raspberry Pi desktop. You're ready to explore projects, browse the web, or install additional software from the recommended applications menu.
