Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3
Raspberry Pi has just released its new Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3, a major upgrade from the previous Raspberry PI Camera Module 2. With features such as improved low-light sensitivity, high dynamic range (HDR) support, and powered autofocus, this camera module is sure to revolutionize the Raspberry Pi user experience.
The Raspberry PI Camera Module 3 is a revolutionary new product that brings enhanced capabilities to the Raspberry Pi platform:
- 8MP camera with wide angle lens
- Improved low-light sensitivity for better imaging in challenging conditions
- High dynamic range (HDR) support for balanced exposure
- Powered autofocus for sharp images
- Available in two variants: visible light only and infrared-sensitive (NoIR)
- Two lens options: standard (75°) or wide-angle (120°)
With these incredible features, the Raspberry PI Camera Module 3 will undoubtedly open up many more possibilities for creative projects using the Raspberry Pi.
Raspberry Pi high-quality M12
The Raspberry Pi HQ Camera is also being released with M12 mount variant. It comes with a range of mounts, allowing users to make the most of the camera's features and adjust it as needed.
The Raspberry Pi HQ Camera is built around the 12.3-megapixel Sony IMX477 image sensor module, so customers who already use M12-mount lenses on their existing High-Quality Camera will be able to natively attach them to the M12 variant of Raspberry PI Camera Module 3 using modified metalwork for its lens mount. This makes it easier for Raspberry Pi users to create their own customized cameras.
M12 lens options
Raspberry Pi will make three different M12 lenses available:
- Wide angle (120°) lens: Allows users to capture more detail and an increased field of view
- Mid-wide angle (90°) lens: Balanced field of view for general use
- Telephoto (60°) lens: For capturing distant subjects with detail
The wide-angle lens in particular allows Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 users to capture more detail and an increased field of view compared to traditional close-range cameras. These mounts are designed to natively support M12 lenses and will allow users to connect existing C-mount metalwork on Raspberry PI's High-Quality Camera with an adapter.
With these M12 mounts, Raspberry PI is aiming to give its users the best possible experience when using Raspberry PI HQ M12.
