Smart Robot Car Chassis Kit

I was surprised and very impressed by the quality of this kit. It was well packaged, with a soft foam liner in the box and several metal parts wrapped in plastic to prevent scratches. All of the parts are high quality (with the exception of the screwdriver; more on that later). The sheet metal is a decently heavy gauge, the bogie wheels have ball bearing inserts and the motors are good quality. There are extra screws and nuts, in case you lose one. It took me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to put it together. I applied power to the motors and it all worked as expected. A few things to note: 1) the instructions are in Chinese. There are lots of pictures, but some are a little ambiguous. If you've got some mechanical know-how and have put together other types of kits its pretty easy to figure out. 2) I had a problem with two of the bogie wheels. After tightening the screws that hold them to the chassis and act as the shafts, the ball bearings made contact with the screw heads and did not turn freely. I had to modify a couple of small washers from my junk bin to make spacers between the bearings and the screw heads. After that they worked fine. 3) While tightening one of the larger screws the handle of the supplied screwdriver broke (make sure you have a back-up in your tool box). The supplied wrench worked great, though!

All in all, this is a very well-made kit and is a real bargin for only $49.99. I can't wait to complete the controller electronics and get this little ROV going!

Smart Robot Car Chassis Kit

Great kit. It went together very easily, and seems sturdy. I haven't finished adding all the controls to it yet.
It is exactly what I was looking for, and for $50, it will work well for me.
